At this year's Fall Dinner, Malcolm Fraser, President and CEO of Innovacorp, will introduce the audience to three successful start-ups in Halifax. The conversation will focus on why entrepreneurs are choosing to make Halifax their home, what they contribute to our community and what businesses can do to support these local leaders. We'll touch on how to embrace failure and what local companies can do to be more innovative every day.

Malcolm Fraser, President and CEO, Innovacorp

Malcolm Fraser is president and CEO of Innovacorp, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In this role, Malcolm oversees Innovacorp's work to find, fund and foster innovative Nova Scotia start-ups that strive to change the world.

Malcolm joined Innovacorp in October 2017. He was a leader in Canada's digital sector for the previous 20 years, earning recognition and awards for innovation, management and community leadership.

In 1995, Malcolm started ISL Internet Solutions Ltd., later rebranded as MODE, and grew the company to be Atlantic Canada's top digital agency. ISL coached many businesses through digital transformation, including Stanfield's, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Tourism Nova Scotia.

Marciel Gaier, Co-Founder and CTO, Graphite Technologies

GIT is a leading Canadian materials engineering firm focused on delivering disruptive uses for graphene technologies.

GIT works in partnership with its customers using its proprietary "bottom up" process for the production of high specification graphene. GIT owns the intellectual property and know-how behind this process. We provide dispersion and product integration expertise, to deliver solutions for a wide range of applications.

Founded in 2017, GIT was formed through the commercialization of research conducted at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.


Anna Manley, CEO, Advocate Cognitive Technologies Inc.


Anna Manley is the CEO of ACTI (Advocate Cognitive Technologies Inc.) and the principal lawyer at Manley Law Inc. ACTI develops legal software that uses artificial intelligence to automatically produce legal documents and manage transactions. Manley Law Inc. is a law firm based in Sydney that utilizes technology to allow lawyers to work remotely and efficiently.


Mo Abdolell, Founder and CEO, Densitas


 

Densitas develops advanced breast imaging analytics technologies powered by machine learning. The company’s goal is to deliver actionable insights at the point-of-care that improve breast health management. Densitas’ products address the key challenges facing breast screening, including mammography quality, workflow efficiencies, compliance with national guidelines, and delivery of appropriate care at sustainable costs.
Founded by Mo Abdolell in 2011, Densitas is ISO 13485 certified and has FDA 510K, Health Canada, CE Mark, and TGA clearance and is now scaling commercialization activities in the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia.
