About Us

2b is 24 years old. We are a Kjipuktuk/Halifax-based, internationally renowned theatre company creating vital, innovative, and rigorous original works that challenge what theatre is and what it can be. We centre care for our artists and audience members and create works that are accessible to both new and artistically seasoned audiences. Our work is part of the evolution of contemporary theatre and has toured across Canada and around the world. We have toured our original creations to 67 cities in 13 countries on five continents, including critical successes in New York, London and Sydney, Australia to name a few.

2022-23 was one of our most active and most successful seasons yet. Our performances reached more than 22,000 audience members in 11 cities, we employed 97 contract-based employees as well as our seven full-time staff members.
