About Us

Founded in 1989, Independent Living Nova Scotia (ILNS) is a registered charity supporting Nova Scotians with disabilities through programs and services that promote Independent Living (IL). Independent Living is about having choices, making decisions, taking risks, making mistakes, taking responsibility for your decisions and also having control over your life. Our organization champions the right to live independently and supports individuals in their pursuit of independence. Our vision is that all Nova Scotians with disabilities have the ability to live a full, independent life at home, work, and play within an inclusive community. ILNS offers a range of free programs and services from our pre-employment and transition to employment programs to student self-managed attendant care services to Disability Tax Credit (DTC) and Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) navigation support to peer support events and more! All of our programs and services are available for persons with any range and number of disabilities.
